The internet, provided you stick to the right corners of it, can be a wonderful place. Where else can you go to find how-to guides on every subject, heartwarming stories that remind us of our shared humanity, and mismatched animal friends, all in one place?

One of the particularly excellent things about the internet, in my admittedly very biased opinion, is that it’s a top-notch way to find cooking techniques and recipes to which you might otherwise never be exposed. I grew up in a household with a great cook (in our case, that’d be my Mom– sorry, Dad– your pies are great!), but the internet enabled me to find and fall in love with gochujang, galangal, and a million other things that aren’t so easy to come by in rural Western New York.

So! Where do I turn when I’m looking for exciting, reliable recipes to spark my own creativity?
There are plenty more food blogs and websites that I read and enjoy, but these are the ones I peruse most regularly. I trust that the recipes have been well-tested, and in the case of the individually authored blogs, I have grown fond of the voices and personalities behind the food. And, like every cooking-oriented Millennial, I am completely and utterly in love with everyone in the Bon Appetit Test Kitchen– if you don’t already subscribe to their YouTube channel (it’s literally the only channel to which I am subscribed), go check it out! “It’s Alive! with Brad” will always be my favorite, but lately in this house we’re very into “Reverse Engineering” too. I’m writing this post while we’re under a COVID-19 stay at home order, and finding myself extra grateful for the online community of food-makers to whom I can turn to feel some semblance of “normal” right now. As Brad would say, “who’s better than us, Vin?”
